How to Lead a Lunch Run

1.  Gas up the bike

2.  Pick a faraway biker bar

3.  Feast with friends on real comfort food

4.  Have the local HD riders take your picture in the “Hog Pen”

Mission accomplished.  On Saturday, April 3rd with the forecast projecting clear skies, sunny and 70F, we met at Starks Corner for a 12pm departure to wind our way north of the Cheddar Curtain for lunch

Destination was the Shades Bar & Grill in Orfordville, WI, just a few miles east of Broadhead, home of the world famous cinnamon rolls.  Lead by Frank and Candi we meandered the +/- 100 miles on lazy 2-lane rural roads avoiding just about all towns and villages. A very enjoyable ride on a beautiful day.

The Shades was a perfect choice.  Just a small town neighborhood bar.  Friendly folks.  Great sandwiches.  Good service.  My meatball sandwich, accompanied by a cold bottle of Fat Squirrel, by New Glarus, hit the spot.  The sandwich was excellent, by the way.

The ride home was uneventful.  The Harley’s needed gas which gave us a welcomed 10 minute break before the final push home, bidding farewell to my companions in Marengo for last 30 miles.

Sure beats yard work.
